“Be responsive to your pastoral leaders. Listen to their counsel. They are alert to the condition of your lives and work under the strict supervision of God. Contribute to the joy of their leadership, not its drudgery. Why would you want to make things harder for them?” Hebrews 13:17 (The Message)
Dear Church Family,
On Sunday night, March 6, we will celebrate fifteen years of ministry with Mark and Colleen Tolar. We will host a church-wide reception to honor Mark’s tireless work among us. He has certainly modeled a life of service to the people of this congregation, so please join us for food and fellowship as we gratefully acknowledge this service.
Mark has been serving the Lord in ministry for over 25 years, and we are especially thankful that he answered the Lord’s call to come to FBC Woodville in 2001 as our Minister of Worship. It is clear to anyone who has met Mark that personal relationships are the focus of his ministry. He loves people, and he takes the time to show people that they are loved. We will truly never know on this side of heaven how many lives have been enriched as a result of the humble acts of service and sacrificial deeds of love that Mark performs on a daily basis. From yard work to pet care to toilet trouble—Mark Tolar has seen it all, and yet never hesitates to offer a helping hand with a smile on his face. Thank you, Mark!
It is remarkable to see just how many ways Mark has ministered over the years:
- 780 Sunday morning worship programs!
- Weekly choir rehearsal and praise band practice
- Annual Christmas musical productions
- Melody Makers
- SPAM choir and summer youth trips
- Community outreach events—annual crawfish boils; Fourth of July picnics and fireworks shows; and wild game dinners
- Pastoral ministries—including weddings, funerals, baptisms, and counseling
During the month of February, our church will take up a love offering to show our gratitude and support to Mark and Colleen for their faithfulness and commitment to all of us. As the writer of Hebrews says, let us contribute to the joy of his leadership, not its drudgery! You may drop your gift by the church office or place a check marked for Mark Tolar in the offering plate on Sunday. You may also give through the church app or at “www.fbcwoodville.com/mark”. Please consider and pray about your generous gift to them.
