Ross D. Shelton, Senior Pastor

Ross has been the Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church since October of 2007. Before coming to Woodville, he was the Pastor of First Baptist Church, Castroville, Texas. He is a graduate of Houston Baptist University (B.A. in Christianity and History), George W. Truett Theological Seminary (Master of Divinity), and is currently working on his Ph.D. in Leadership Studies at Dallas Baptist University. He has been married to Lauren since 2001, and they have two daughters, Audrey and Elizabeth.

Mark Tolar, Minister of Worship and Music

As one of our associate pastors, Mark leads our Music/Worship ministry. Mark has served in this capacity since March 2001. His educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Music and a master’s degree in Counseling and Human Development from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. He has served in churches for 25 years. These include Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene , Field Street Baptist Church in Cleburne , and First Baptist Church in Port Arthur . Mark is married to Colleen Ray of Houston, Texas. His daughter, Courtney, is a pre-med student in Oklahoma. He has a love for people, animals, and the great outdoors. He would love to visit with you about your place of service in the church.

Todd Pounds, Minister to Students

Todd has been preaching the Gospel for sixteen years. During that time he has served in a number of capacities, including prison ministry, Sunday school teacher, and as an associate pastor leading in worship and working with teenagers. The last seven years Todd has served here as a volunteer in the Student ministry and was called to serve as the full-time youth pastor three years ago. In his fourth year as youth pastor, Todd is driven by a passion to lead and encourage teenagers to give their lives fully to Jesus Christ and to live out their faith outside the four walls of the church. Todd is happily married to Chyrl, wife of twenty-four years. They have two children and two grandchildren; daughter Elizabeth currently living in West Virginia with her husband Adam and their son Rylan and son Zach living in Woodville with his daughter Marae. Todd enjoys music, reading, sports, and trying to play basketball once in a while.
